Poilievre states reality, says there are just 2 genders
There are two genders – men and women – but for saying that, federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is under attack. This is where we are in 2025, stating biological facts is controversial.
Poilievre was in the middle of a live TV interview with Toronto’s CP24 news channel when he was asked about the gender issue in relation to moves by the Trump administration in Washington. Anchor Phil Perkins asked Poilievre if he’d look to be in line with an executive order that Donald Trump signed a week ago Monday saying that the American government only recognized two genders.
It also removes biological males from women’s sports, an issue that has become increasingly controversial.
“President Trump signed an executive order, the U.S. government only recognizing two genders , male, female, they’re unchangeable. If elected as prime minister, is that something that you’re going to kind of walk in line with or what are your feelings on that executive order?” Perkins asked.
“Well, I don’t know. Do you have any other genders that you’d like me to name?” Poilievre asked.
“Well I am not aware of any other genders than men and women. I mean, if you have any other that you want me to consider, you’re welcome to tell me right now,” Poilievre said before saying the government should just mind its own business.
“We should have a government that just minds its own damn business and leaves people alone to make their own personal decisions. That’s the kind of government I’m going to run,” he said.
Poilievre went on to say that there are issues of housing, poverty, crime and other issues that should be dealt with rather than issues such as this.
Yet for PM Justin Trudeau’s government, this is one of the most important issues, which is why it mandated that tampons be made available in the bathrooms of any federally regulated workplace. Yes, men needing tampons is a major concern of the Trudeau government.
While Liberals love to claim that Tories start work culture wars, it’s the Trudeau Liberal government that started using terms like “people who menstruate” and “chest feeding.” People who menstruate would be women, a term that Liberals seem to want removed from our vocabulary and chest feeding is what most of us would call breastfeeding, another term that Liberals find offensive.
All of this was driven by a journalist deciding to ask Poilievre a question about Trump’s executive order that said there were just two genders. There have been political pushes to say that there are more than two genders, despite biology, for years, and now those pushing those theories are on the decline.
While most media turned to trans activist Fae Johnstone in asking for guidance in visiting America, women’s rights advocate Meghan Murphy celebrated Poilievre’s comments.
“As someone who has been fighting gender identity ideology in Canada for over a decade now, and suffered enormously for having to done so, I am thrilled to hear a politician in Canada finally speak up in defense of reality,” Murphy said.
“This gender nonsense has gone on for far too long. It is impossible to change sex, and how individuals feel about ‘gender’ is irrelevant. Bring back sanity to Canada.”
Poilievre’s comments will spark a discussion, and that’s a good thing. We should all treat each other with respect, but the push to erase women from our public discourse in response to concerns about transgender or non – binary issues is beyond where we should go.
Poilievre is with the majority, despite what the media and chattering classes will say.
