Pro-Hamas thugs target synagogue for 10th time
The anti-Jewish and Hamas-supporting thugs who run Toronto’s streets are batting 900.
And their bashing streak isn’t in jeopardy. When it comes to vandalizing the Kehillat Shaarei Torah synagogue on Bayview Ave., the antisemites are nine out of ten as police have arrested someone in only one of the attacks.
No one so far, has been arrested for last Tuesday’s vandalism and Toronto Police have no answer for this violent crime spree targeting Jews. This marks the 10th time the North York Synagogue has been targeted.
The most recent act of vandalism occurred last Wednesday. Police arrested five people in the break in of a Toronto Metropolitan Students supporting Israel private off campus event in which glass was smashed and people went to hospital. Police allege “a group of protesters entered a private event without permission” and “forced entry into the building, damaging property, and entered a common area where attendees were gathered” causing “those in attendance to fear for their safety” while ‘one individual sustained injuries from broken glass.”
And Mayor Olivia Chow had no direct response.
Seven hours after the latest incident happened – and after pressure from the media for comment – her spokesperson, Shirven Rezvany, saved the mayor’s political skin and sent a third-person statement:
“Mayor Chow unequivocally condemns this disgusting antisemitic act and the repeated vandalism of this synagogue. She supports the Toronto Police in quickly apprehending whoever is responsible. The Toronto Police service is investigating and the Hate Crime Unit has been on scene.”
Boiler plate. Hollow. Too late. Maybe Chow will fool some people that she’s on top of this, but most know the pass the buck game.
It’s not lost on anybody that the last time Chow spoke on the Israel-Gaza conflict, she said: “My mother was a child in a war zone, she suffered famine caused by Japan when they invaded China during the 2nd World War.
“At just 13 years old, alone after my grandmother died of dysentery, she was responsible for keeping her two brothers alive,” Chow told the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) dinner last Saturday.
The mayor said that as a city, Toronto “feels the pain of what happens around the world,” adding that the genocide in Gaza impacts us all” and I will speak out when children anywhere are feeling the pain and violence and hunger.”
But Hamas is in charge here. Not the mayor or the police.
There is no one I know that is as bad at their job as Chow. But to send out smearing lies about genocide and starving kids to garner votes is a gross fabrication.
Richard Robertson, of B’Nai Brith Canada, said his organization is in the process of filing a complaint with the integrity commissioner.
“When a mayor stands before a crowd and falsely accuses the Jewish state of committing “genocide,” it emboldens those who wish to harm the Toronto Jewish community,” said Robertson. “Words from those in power shape the climate in which we all live. When that influence fuels division instead of unity, the result are often felt in shattered glass and shaken communities.”
To have 10 acts of vandalism on one synagogue on her watch as mayor shows her sheer incompetence. And the latest one – in which windows were shattered – comes just days after this ridiculous and false declaration to that Muslim organization that Israel has been committing “genocide in Gaza.”
It’s a lie that there is genocide in Gaza and it’s a lie that Israel is an apartheid state.
And yet there’s the mayor spreading that smear. She’s a poor excuse for a mayor and an even worse excuse for a neighbour. This evil stuff spreads too. Now the town of Milton, as reported by lawyer and reporter Caryma Sa’d, had the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) at a heated meeting asking city council to “reject a motion” declaring the town “Apartheid – Free.” Milton council ended up rejecting the motion.
But you can tell things are out of control.
No one could do their job pathetically as Chow and get to keep doing it. A local Jewish temple is sacred. It’s abominable that this happened 10 times there. It’s heinous that she doesn’t seem to care.
“The complainant confirmed that this was, the 10th time it has been vandalized this year,” said Toronto police spokesperson Shannon Eames.
It has to be put on record that the synagogue has invested tens of thousands of dollars in security measures to combat this. It hasn’t worked. It’s open season on that place.
“This latest act of vandalism is appalling and unacceptable,” said the CJIA.
“Words have consequences and this repeated targeting of the Jewish community shows just how dangerous divisive language can be,” said spokesperson Danielle Keenan.
“When antisemitic rhetoric is tolerated, it emboldens those who would act on this hate. We need to call out antisemitism clearly and consistently, before words turn to violence.”
Meir Weinstein, of Israel Now, added that when nothing is done, it encourages antisemitic incitement against the Jewish community.”
There is a truth here, however, the mayor may not want to admit.
It’s open season on Jews and there places of worship in Toronto. And everybody who’s supposed to be able to stop this madness has gotten big raises and new contracts while pandering to the people who are responsible for this.
What has the Kehillat Shaarei Torah synagogue got?
More broken windows and vandalism!
